Am 11. Oktober 2021 eröffnete das neue IT- und Medienzentrum (ITMZ) der Hochschule Coburg. Das Multifunktionsgebäude beherbergt neben IT-Service und Hochschulrechenzentrum auch die neue Bibliothek der Universität. Im flachen, lichtdurchfluteten Teil des goldglänzendem Neubaus stehen den Studierenden auf über 1.000 laufenden Regalmetern ca. 35.000 Medien zur Verfügung, sowie moderne Arbeitsplätze und separate Gruppenarbeitsräume. Zur technischen Ausstattung der Bibliothek gehört das hochmoderne RFID-System mit zwei Selbstverbuchungsterminals und einem Rückgabeautomaten, an dem selbstständig und rund um die Uhr Bücher ausgeliehen und zurückgegeben werden können. Ein weiteres Highlight ist die Bibliotheks-Lounge mit Kaffebar und einem erlebbaren Innenhof, an dem sich Studierende spontan zum gemeinsamen Austausch treffen können. Die Baukosten des Universitätsgebäudes beliefen sich auf ca. 33 Millionen Euro.
The new IT and Media Centre (ITMZ) at Coburg University of Applied Sciences opened on 11 October 2021, just in time for the new winter semester. In addition to the IT service and the university computer centre, the multifunctional building also houses the university's new library. In the flat, light-flooded part of the shiny gold new building, students have access to about 35,000 media on more than 1,000 running shelf metres, as well as modern workstations and separate group study rooms. The library's technical equipment includes the modern RFID system with two self-check-out terminals and a return machine, from which books can be borrowed and returned independently and around the clock. Another highlight is the library lounge with a coffee bar and an inner courtyard, where students can meet spontaneously to exchange ideas. The construction costs of the university building amounted to approximately 33 million euros.
