Die Zentralbibliothek der Stadtbibliothek Stuttgart steht am Mailänderplatz auf dem Gelände des ehemaligen Güterbahnhofs und ist Teil des Rahmenplans Stuttgart 21. Auf einer Programmfläche von 11 500m² befinden sich 500 000 Medieneinheiten, die auf neun oberirdische und zwei unterirdische Geschosse verteilt sind. Darüber hinaus verfügt der kubische Solitärbau über ein Café, einen Ausstellungsraum, einen Veranstaltungssaal und eine Dachterrasse. Die Baukosten betrugen 80 Mio. Euro.
The central library of the Stuttgart City Library is located at Mailänderplatz on the site of the former freight station and is part of the Stuttgart 21 framework plan. 500 000 media units are located on a programme area of 11 500m², distributed over nine above-ground and two underground floors.
