Für die neue Mediathek 'Pierro Bottero' in der provenzalischen Kleinstadt Pélisanne wurde ein historisches Herrenhaus aus dem Jahr 1642 renoviert und um einen 400 qm großen Neubau erweitert. Besonders eindrucksvoll ist hierbei der Umgang mit den bestehenden Strukturen der Anlage, die nach dem einheimischen Schriftsteller Bottero benannt wurde. So schmiegt sich der Neubau sanft an die Villa an, hebt sich jedoch durch große Verglasungen und leichte Farbkontraste vom Altbau ab. Im Obergeschoss adaptiert eine große Fensterfront den Umriss einer alten Platane und lässt die Baumkrone Teil des Innenraums werden. Zur Ausstattung der Mediathek gehören verschiedene Lesebereiche, Abteilungen für Kinder und Erwachsene, Räume für Workshop und Geschichten-Erzählen, sowie ein Seminarraum für kulturelle Aktivitäten.
The new 'Pierro Bottero' media library, named after the French writer who lived in Pélisanne, is based on the renovation of a historic mansion dating from 1642 and the addition of a new 400-square-meter building. Particularly impressive here is the interaction with the existing structures of the complex. The new building nestles gently against the mansion, but stands out from the old building with its large glazing and light color contrasts. On the upper floor, a large window front adapts the outline of an old plane tree, thereby allowing the tree crown to appear as part of the interior. The media library's facilities include various reading areas, sections for children and adults, rooms for workshops and storytelling, and a seminar room for cultural activities.
