Im Jahr 2012 wurde der Plan einer umfassenden Renovierung der Bibliothek von Pierrefonds in Montréal vorgestellt. Die alte Bibliothek hatte vor allem zwei Probleme: Zum einen der imense Platzmangel für die stetig wachsende Sammlung von mittlerweile über 120.000 Büchern und Manuskripten und zum anderen die Notwendigkeit, die Einrichtung und ihre Dienstleistungen für ihre Besucher zu modernisieren und an die heutigen Bedürfnisse anzupassen. Knapp 7 Jahre später am 23. Mai 2019 eröffnete schließlich die neue Stadtbibliothek mit einer verdoppelten Grundfläche von ca. 4.550 Quadratmetern und zahlreichen neuen Angeboten, wie z.B. einem Fabrication Lab, Game und Multimedia Rooms, Pop-up shops, Animationsräumen sowie diversen Einzel- und Gruppenarbeitsbereichen. Die Gesamtkosten der Modernisierung beliefen sich auf rund 25,3 Millionen Dollar.
In 2012, it was officially announced that the Pierrefonds Library in the Canadian megacity of Montréal was to undergo a major renovation. The old library had two main problems: Firstly, the immense lack of space for the ever-growing collection of now more than 120,000 books and manuscripts, and secondly, the need to modernise and adapt the facility and its services for its visitors to today's needs. Almost 7 years later on 23 May 2019, the new City Library finally opened with a doubled floor space of approximately 4,550 square metres and numerous new offerings, such as a Fabrication Lab, Game and Multimedia Rooms, pop-up shops, animation rooms and various individual and group study areas. The total cost of the renovation was approximately $25.3 million.
