Stadtbibliothek, La Réunion

In abstrahierter Form eines Grasbündels zeigt sich die neue Mediathéque du Sud Sauvage auf der Tropeninsel La Réunion im indischen Ozean. Auftraggeber für den 2.500 Quadratmeter großen Gebäudekomplex war die Kommune Saint-Joseph. Das neue Gemeindezentrum beinhaltet neben Büro- und Verwaltungsräumen eine Erwachsenenbibliothek, einen eigenständigen Jugendbereich mit Gartenhaus und eine begrünte Terasse im Innenhof. Die Baukosten beliefen sich auf circa 6 Millionen Euro.

The new Mediathéque du Sud Sauvage on the tropical island of La Réunion in the Indian Ocean takes the abstract form of a bundle of grass. The client for the 2,500 square metre building complex was the municipality of Saint-Joseph. In addition to offices and administrative rooms, the new community centre includes an adult library, an independent youth area with a garden house and a landscaped terrace in the inner courtyard. The construction costs amounted to approximately 6 million euros.
