Die neue 33.700 Quadratmeter große Tianjin Binhai Library mit einem leuchtenden, kugelförmigen Auditorium und raumhohen Bücherregalen dient nicht nur als Bildungszentrum, sondern auch als sozialer Raum und Knotenpunkt im neu entstandenen Kulturviertel. Die futuristische Bibliothek, die von dem international bekannten Architektenteam MVRDV entworfen wurde, beherbergt diverse Bildungseinrichtungen. Im ersten und zweiten Stock befinden sich hauptsächlich Lesesäle, Bücher und Aufenthaltsräume, während in den oberen Stockwerken Sitzungsräume, Büros, Computer- und Audioräume untergebracht sind. Von Planung bis Fertigstellung der fünfgeschossigen Bibliothek vergingen nur drei Jahre, die Eröffnung fang im Oktober 2017 statt.
The new 33,700-square-metre Tianjin Binhai Library, with a luminous spherical auditorium and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, serves not only as an educational centre but also as a social space and hub of the newly developed cultural district. The futuristic library, designed by the internationally renowned architectural team MVRDV, houses various educational facilities. The first and second floors are mainly reading rooms, books and lounges, while the upper floors house meeting rooms, offices, computer and audio rooms. It took only three years from planning to completion of the five-storey library, and the opening ceremony took place in October 2017.
