Stadtbibliothek, Zwickau

Am 14. September 2014 eröffnete die neue Stadtbibliothek Zwickau im historischen Kornhaus. Auf Initiative der Stadt Zwickau konnte eine umfangreiche Sanierung des einsturzgefährdeten 500 Jahre alten Denkmals ermöglicht werden. Die Kosten für die Sanierung und den Umbau betrugen 6.965.000 Euro, wovon rund 4,3 Mio. Euro Fördermittel waren. Seit der Eröffnung wurden bisher jedes Jahr ca. 120.000 Besucher und 475.000 Entleihungen gezählt..

On 14 September 2014, the new Zwickau City Library opened in the historic Kornhaus. Only 5 years earlier, the demolition of the monument, which was in danger of collapsing, seemed inevitable. On the initiative of the city of Zwickau, extensive renovation was made possible in cooperation with architects, structural engineers and monument conservationists. This finally led to the rescue of the over 500-year-old building. The costs for the renovation and reconstruction amounted to 6,965,000 euros, of which about 4.3 million euros were government subsidies. Since the opening, about 120,000 visitors and 475,000 borrowings have been counted every year.
