Die neue Nationalbibliothek in Doha umfasst die Zentralbibliothek, die Bibliothek der Universität und eine Rara-Sammlung alter Manuskripte der arabischen Kultur. Die Bücher sind über eine lange Regallandschaft aus weißem Marmor verfügbar, die sich zwischen den angehobenen Gebäudeecken befindet. Eine trägerfreie Brücke verbindet auf der oberen Ebene verschiedene Flügel der Bibliothek. Auf ihr sind kleine Konferenz- und Studierräume angelegt, Ausstellungsflächen, Lesemöglichkeiten und ein Multifunktionssaal mit einziehbaren Wänden. 400 000 Bücher sind im Freihandbereich verfügbar, weitere 800 000 Medien können im Untergeschoß in Kompaktanlagen aufbewahrt werden. Auf 3 214 Quadratmetern stehen hier ca. 30 000 Regalmeter Stellfläche zur Verfügung. Inzwischen befinden sich 910 000 Medien im physischen Bestand der Bibliothek, deren wissenschaftlicher Teil nach den Studienangeboten in der Bildungsstadt und den Forschungsbereichen im Land zusammengestellt wurde.
The new national library in Doha comprises the central library, the university library and a rare book collection of old manuscripts of Arabic culture. The books are available via a long white marble shelving landscape located between the raised corners of the building. A girder-free bridge connects different wings of the library on the upper level. On it are small conference and study rooms, exhibition areas, reading facilities and a multifunctional hall with retractable walls. 400 000 books are available in the open access area, and a further 800 000 media can be stored in compact units in the basement. Approximately 30 000 shelf metres are available here on 3 214 square metres. Meanwhile, 910 000 media are in the physical stock of the library, the scientific part of which was compiled according to the study offers in the city of education and the research areas in the country.
