Das Magazin bietet Platz für mehr als eine Million Bände und hat eine Nutzfläche von rund 2.500 m 2. Das Gebäude ist 130 m lang, die Breite von 22 m ergibt sich aus den technischen Möglichkeiten, die elektromotorisch gesteuerte Kompaktregalanlagen aktuell bieten. Die Anlage ermöglicht, dass sich die Regale nach längerer Nichtbenutzung automatisch in eine für die Belüftung der Bestände optimale Position bringen. Die Bibliothek ist bestrebt, ihren Nutzern trotz des entfernten Außenmagazins weiterhin einen hohen Service zu bieten: Über den Katalog bestellte Bücher werden innerhalb von 24 Stunden in der Zentralbibliothek bereitgestellt, das Scannen von Aufsätzen für die Fernleihe wird vor Ort erledigt.
The magazine offers space for more than one million
volumes and has a usable area of around 2,500 m 2. The building is 130 m long,
the width of 22 m results from the technical possibilities currently offered by
electric motor-controlled compact shelving systems. The system enables the
shelves to automatically move into an optimal position for the ventilation of
the stocks after a longer period of non-use. The library is committed to
continuing to provide a high level of service to its users despite the removal
of the outdoor stacks: Books ordered via the catalogue are made available in
the central library within 24 hours, and the scanning of articles for
interlibrary loan is done on site.
