Die Bibliothek soll als dritter Ort dienen und dadurch als offener Treffpunkt für die Stadtgesellschaft fungieren. Neben dem Makerspace mit 3D-Druckern, einer Digitalisierungsstation und einem Maxi-Schachbrett, sowie dem separaten Raum für Jugendliche im Erdgeschoss, befinden sich ein Kinderbereich und ein Veranstaltungsraum mit professioneller Bühne im ersten Obergeschoss. Eine optische und akustische Trennung schirmt im Gebäude das „Wohnzimmer“ und die „Arbeitszimmer“ von den lärmintensiveren Bereichen, wie der Kinderbibliothek und Jugendbibliothek, sowie den Veranstaltungsbereichen, ab. Die Trennung wird durch ein Superregal auf allen Ebenen der Bibliothek erlangt. Im Erdgeschoss gibt es einen kommunikativen Bereich mit einem Lesecafé. Insgesamt verfügt die Bibliothek über ca. 59 000 Medien.
The library is intended to serve as a third
space and thus function as an open meeting place for the urban community. In
addition to the Makerspace with 3D printers, a digitisation station and a maxi
chessboard, as well as the separate room for young people on the ground floor,
the children's area and an event room with a professional stage are located on
the first floor. A visual and acoustic
separation shields the "living room" and the "study rooms"
in the building from the noisier areas, such as the children's library and
youth library as well as the event areas. The separation is achieved by super
shelving on all levels of the library. On the ground floor there is a
communicative area with a reading café. In total, the library has about
59 000 media.
