Die neue Stadtbibliothek 'Valente' in Cambridge, Massachusetts ist so konzipiert, dass sie sowohl den angrenzenden Schulen als auch der gesamten Gemeinde dient. Sie wurde als „Net-Zero“-Gebäude konstruiert, das ebenso viel Energie erzeugt, wie es verbraucht. Die 10.000 Quadratmeter große Bibliothek besteht hauptsächlich aus einem riesigen Raum mit einer Decke, die sich dramatisch nach oben neigt. Durch die ganzflächig verglaste Fassade dringt viel Licht ins Innere, was ein Gefühl der Offenheit erzeugt. Neben der Nutzung von Lern- und Arbeitsräumen bietet die Bibliothek auch eine Boccia-Ausrüstung zum Verleih an, mit der sich die Besucher auf dem Vorplatz vergnügen können. Die Eröffnung fand am 04. November 2019 statt.
The new 'Valente' public library in Cambridge, USA, is designed to serve both the neighbouring schools and the community as a whole. It has also been designed as a 'net-zero' building and is intended to generate as much renewable energy as it consumes. The 10,000-square-metre library consists mainly of one huge room with a ceiling that slopes dramatically upwards. A lot of light enters through the all-glass facade; This creates a wonderful sense of openness and invites the community to engage with their new facility. In addition to the use of study and work spaces, which can be reserved on a flexible basis, the library also offers the rental of bocce equipment for visitors to enjoy on the forecourt.
