Mit 20 Stockwerken ist das Kulturhaus/Zentrum Sara eines der höchsten Holzgebäude der Welt und beherbergt eine Bibliothek sowie Veranstaltungsorte für Kunst, Theater, Musik, Aufführungen, Tagungen und ein Hotel. Durch den Umzug haben sich die Bibliotheksräumlichkeiten gegenüber dem früheren Standort um etwa 40 Prozent verkleinert, von 2.300 Quadratmetern auf 1.400. Das Foyer mit mehreren Stufen über den eigentlichen Bibliotheksräumen ist als offener Raum gestaltet, der Raum zum Lesen und Verweilen anbietet.
With its 20 storeys, the Sara House of Culture/Centre is one of the tallest wooden buildings in the world. The building houses venues for art, theatre, music, performances, conferences as well as a hotel and library. The move has reduced the library space by about 40 per cent compared to the previous location, from 2 300 square metres to 1 400. The foyer with several steps above the library is designed as an open space offering the opportunity to read and linger. As an additional service of the library, there is a bookmobile for children, which offers children's books at various locations in the city.
