Ganz in der Nähe des berühmten Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) erscheint hinter gläserner Fassade die 53rd Street Library, eine neue Zweigbibliothek der New York Public Library. Obwohl der Standort der Bibliothek überwiegend unterirdisch liegt und sich am Fuße eines neuen 40-stöckigen Hotels befindet, verwandelt das Projekt den dunklen, unterirdischen Raum in eine einladende, offene und lichtdurchflutete Stadtlandschaft im Herzen Manhattans. Die Bibliothek erstreckt sich über drei Etagen auf einer Fläche von 28.000 qm und bietet seinen Besuchern ein großes Angebot an Büchern, Kunst und Technologie.
Very close to the famous Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), appears behind a glass facade the 53rd Street Library, a new branch library of the New York Public Library. Although the library's location is mostly underground and at the foot of a new 40-storey hotel, the project transforms the dark, underground space into an inviting, open and light-filled urban landscape in the heart of Manhattan. The library spans 28,000 square feet over three floors and offers its visitors a wide range of books, art and technology.
