Die neue Dornbirner Stadtbibliothek ist als ovaler Pavillon mit zwei Eingängen konzipiert, die sich am ehemaligen "Trampelpfad" zwischen Schulgasse und Jahnstraße orientieren. Auf 1 600m² können bis zu 100 000 Bücher Platz finden, darüber hinaus verfügt die Bibliothek über eine Media- und Spielothek, einen Veranstaltungssaal und ein Café. Die Fassade aus Keramikziegeln dient dem Sonnenschutz und soll an Bücherregale und Zeilen mit Lettern, Zeichen oder Hieroglyphen erinnern. Die Baukosten betrugen 6,5 Mio. Euro.
The new Dornbirn public library is designed as an oval pavilion with two entrances oriented along the former "trampling path" between Schulgasse and Jahnstraße. The 1 600m² space can accommodate up to 100 000 books, and the library also has a media and games library, an events hall and a café. The façade made of ceramic bricks serves as a sunshade and is intended to be reminiscent of bookshelves and lines with letters, signs or hieroglyphics. The construction costs amounted to 6.5 million euros.
