Die Bibliothek "De Boekenberg" wurde 2012 als eine begehbare Bücherpyramide eröffnet. Für den Bau verantwortlich ist das Rotterdamer Architekturbüro MVRDV, das unter anderem die spektakuläre Binhai-Bibliothek in Tianjin entwarf. In Spijkenisse erstellte MVRDV auch das an den Boekenberg angrenzende und traditionelle Ziegelbauweise reflektierende "Bibliotheksquartier" mit Wohnungen und Appartments. Die Nutzfläche der Bibliothek beträgt 9 300m² und verteilt sich auf fünf pyramidenartig gestapelte Geschosse.
The library "De Boekenberg" was opened in 2012 as a walk-in book pyramid. The Rotterdam architectural firm MVRDV, which designed the spectacular Binhai Library in Tianjin among others, is responsible for the construction. In Spijkenisse, MVRDV also designed the "library quarter" with flats, which is situated next to the Boekenberg and reflects traditional brick construction. The usable floor space of the library is 9 300m² and is distributed over five pyramid-like stacked floors.
