Mit fünf Kilometern Bücherregalen, 1.000 neuen Studienplätzen inkl. schnellem Internetzugang und Gruppenarbeitsräumen mit Hightech-Ausstattung ist die im Juli 2015 eröffnete Laidlaw Library eine moderne Einrichtung für zeitgemäßes Lernen. Die Bibliothek in der Nähe des Universitätseingangs der englischen Stadt Leeds ist nach dem schottischen Geschäftsmann Irvine Laidlaw benannt, der das Projekt mit einer Spende von 11 Mio. Euro unterstütze. Die Bauzeit betrug nur knapp ein Jahr und die Gesamtkosten des Neubaus beliefen sich auf rund 34 Mio. Euro.
With five kilometres of bookshelves, 1,000 new study spaces including fast internet access and group study rooms with high-tech equipment, the Laidlaw Library, which opened in July 2015, is a state-of-the-art facility for contemporary learning. The library, located near the university entrance of the English city of Leeds, is named after Irvine Laidlaw, a Scottish businessman who supported the project with a donation of 11 million euros. Construction took just under a year and the total cost of the new building was around 34 million euros.
