Die Weston Bibliothek ist Teil der Bodleian Library der Universität Oxford. Bei der Sanierung wurde vor allem darauf geachtet, die Struktur den modernen Standards anzupassen und dennoch den Denkmalschutz zu beachten. Die Idee war, das Gebäude zu öffnen, um der Öffentlichkeit einen besseren Zugang zu ermöglichen und sie an den Aktivitäten im Gebäude teilhaben zu lassen. Dazu gehörte auch die Schaffung neuer Räume für ein Ausstellungs- und Seminarprogramm, das sich auf die außergewöhnlichen Bestände der Bodleian-Sammlungen stützt. Das Gebäude wurde mit einem neuen Eingang versehen und die Archive den höchsten Standards für die Bewahrung von Büchern und Handschriften angepasst. Die Architekten haben einige Stockwerke im mittleren Teil des Gebäudes entfernt und durch einen Lesesaal und Forschungsräume ersetzt und dabei auch einen Teil der Archive im Keller erneuert.
The Weston Library is part of the Bodleian Library at Oxford University. During the refurbishment, particular attention was paid to adapting the structure to modern standards while still respecting the preservation of the building. The idea was to open up the building to give the public better access and to let them participate in the activities in the building. This included creating new spaces for an exhibition and seminar programme based on the extraordinary holdings of the Bodleian collections. A new entrance was added to the building and the archives were brought up to the highest standards for the preservation of books and manuscripts. The architects took out some floors in the central part of the building and replaced them with a reading room and research rooms, while also renovating part of the archives in the basement.
